Hyrcan forests along the Alborz Range like a green bar covers the southern coast of Caspian sea from Astra to Golidagh at north of Iran. There are 130 species of trees in this forest. The area is 15 percent of Iran's forests and 1.1 percent of the total country. Variety of topography, climate and vegetation up to 2800 meters has made a unique genetic reserve that dates back to the third period of geology. After Lut desert Hirkan forest is the second natural resource of Iran in the UNESCO list.
