In the area known as Tous near Mashhad, is the burial site of Hakim Abolqasem Ferdowsi, a Persian famous poet. One of the best poems of epic poetry in the world is Shahnameh (Book of the Kings) written by Ferdowsi, after the Arab invasion to Iran many consider Ferdowsi as the revivalist of Persian language, Therefore he is very popular among Persian speakers of the world. Mausoleum was first opened 80 years ago, and 30 years later the tomb was rebuilt by Houshang Seyhoun Iranian architect, new design was based on the architecture of the tomb of Cyrus the Great. The interior architecture of the building includes tiles and stone inscriptions about stories of Shahnameh, as well as stone inscriptions from the poems of Iranian poets. This historical and cultural complex includes tomb, rock Hall, garden, large pool and a museum with area of six hectares, and it is visited every day by domestic and foreign tourists.
