Holy Shrine of Imam Reza

Large and unique collection of buildings in the holy city of Mashhad, including the shrine of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (eighth Shia imam) is called the complex of Razavi Holy Shrine. Golden dome, courtyards, mosques, porches, library and museum are some parts of this great complex that Architecturally and decoratively have made one of the most comprehensive and magnificent places in the Muslim world. In addition to the spiritual aspect, this complex has the most artistic building decorative elements including tile, plaster, calligraphy, mirroring, mosaic and woodcarving. The place where the body of Imam Reza was buried in the thousand years ago, at first was a garden in a small village called Sanabad. Due to the presence and pilgrimage of the followers to this place, the city gradually builds around it, and today it is Mashhad-e-Reza means the place of martyrdom.
