Arg Bam

The largest brick building in the world near the city of Bam in Kerman province, which has been built and expanded in different historical periods, is Arg-e Bam (Bam Cathedral). The huge 2500-year-old citadel located on the Silk Road and according to evidence, was originally built around the Achaemenid era and was still used by the natives of the region till 200 years ago. Protecting citizens against invader and warrior has been the main reason to build sush a great castle. Categorize and Class system is evident in the castle construction, government sector is separated from the peasant sector, market and bazaar is also separated. Fifteen years ago a large earthquake devastated a large part of the building but reconstruction was restored by using documents, maps and photographs left.
